Getting Started/Registration

The process of getting your website made consists of planning, creating, and editing. Once the client expresses interest, we will meet and discuss the requirements for the project. When the project is deemed feasible, we will register the domain, usually through godaddy.com, to ensure the client's desired domain is purchasable. If it has already been claimed there are several paths we can take including: contacting the existing owners to attempt to buy the domain from them, or brainstorm a different domain name.

Hosting

After the domain has been secured, we will focus on the hosting. Chaplin Web Design has its own hosting server, or if the client prefers we can use a different hosting company. After hosting is secured we will point the domain to the host thus making the website "live" and viewable on the internet. From here we can add a password the the site as to allow the client to view updates as they are made, while restricting public access during the construction phase.

Design

Using Photoshop for graphics, and using Frontpage, Dreamweaver, and Notepad for code, combined with the clients input we will follow the outlined plan and create a professional, clear, user friendly website. Depending on how many pages are to be coded this can take anywhere from five days (for a blog, or 5-10 page website) to five weeks (massive, script intensive, graphic intensive, 150 page website).

Editing

While editing is certainly an on going process, the final edit is where we will make sure that everything the client wanted is included and that it comes across in a polished manner.

Updating

Once the website is completed and edited the client will likely require updates periodically. Whether it be to content, or to add new technologies to the website, we will not only do these updates but also educate the client on how to do these updates in the future. The website will be designed in such a way that the client can easily update the site, or that another web designer would be able to pick up where we left off.
